Shyama Prasad Mukherjee By Our Special Correspondent
(patriot, orator and parliamentarian)
BANGALORE, JUNE 20. The former Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Mr. M.Rama Jois, on Tuesday paid rich tribute to the late Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, whom he described as a great patriot, orator and parliamentarian, who had fought a relentless battle against the Government's "policy of appeasement" even at an early stage. Releasing Vyarthavagadirali Balidana, the Kannada translation of a Hindi work on Mukherjee brought out by the BJP's Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Birth Centenary Celebration Committee, Mr. Jois asked people to develop a sense of patriotism to keep the country united at all times.
Mr. Jois also reminded the BJP that it had inherited the lofty ideals of the Jan Sangh that was founded by Mukherjee, and said unless it strived to "establish clean politics", there was no ray of hope for the country. Those in the party who could not live up to the ideals of the party would be rendering a great service to society by quitting if they could not correct themselves.

Mr. Basavaraj Patil Sedam, BJP State unit President, presided over the function. Ms. H.S.Parvathi who had translated the Hindi work into Kannada was felicitated.

Mr. Ramachandra Gowda, MLC, and convenor of the committee, in his introductory remarks said the party would hold functions from June 3 to July 6 in major cities in memory of Mukherjee.

Mr. G.M.Rajachar, Secretary, BJP, welcomed the gathering.
