As President of th Maharashtra BJP, I welcome the delegates
from all corners of the country to Rajat Jayanti Nagar.
As you are aware, Maharashtra was lashed by heavy
rains and floods earlier this year. Owing to its aftermath,
the arrangements for this convention have been kept
simple.
The firstever BJP convention 25 year ago was organized
with the dream of building a strong nation with a
pledge to create a great future. I can proudly say
today that on the strength of the commitments it fulfilled,
the BJP has emerged as the party that can take the
nation to a bright tomorrow.
In Maharashtra, we have been constantly striving
to make the state unit efficient and active. Our objective
is to provide activity to every worker and have a
worker for every activity. By inculcating devotion
to the nation, we have asked every party worker to
enslist at least 25 new members. We have registered
impressive achievements towards this goal over the
last six months. Not only has the BJP reached every
nook and corner of Maharashtra, but also it has been
successfully scaling new heights in the political
arena. It is my strong belif that the state BJP would
be able to strengthen the organization to such an
extent that along with its allies, the BJP would come
to power in Maharashtra.
Under the able leadership of Hon. Shri Atal Bihari
Vajpayee, the NDA government has made the nation a
nuclear power, stronger and it is now recognized as
a rapidly developing country. This miracle has been
possible only due to the leadership of Atalji and
Advaniji and on the strength of party workers. The
BJP has presented exemplary evidence of solid planning
and excellent administration at the centre and in
various state.
The BJP has not only ambitions and dreams, it possesses
the mass support to come to power in the state and
at the Centre. The party workers have provided this
strength. It is on their strengths that we have achieved
our goals. The BJP’s image and policies have
the vigour to develop society in every sense. During
these 25 years, our policies have stood the test of
times. We have to emerge as a political party by harmonizing
with the changing global development scenario and
conversing with science. We have to achieve our goal
of making India a strong and prosperous nation.
The invaluable guidance by Dr. Shyamaprasad Mookerjee
and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s integral humanism
will serve as the guiding light for the party. At
the time of founding the Jan Sangh, Deendayalji has
said “The economic and social progress of a
nation is not judged by the person atop the prosperity
scale but by the one at the bottom of it. Today, there
rae crores of people in the county who are not able
to exercise their basic human rights. The government’s
rules and regulations, plans and policies do not embrace
them but treat them as an impediment. Our conviction
is that these downtrodden people are our Gods and
the day when we provide them with pucca houses, give
education to their women and children and give them
training of industry and business to improve their
lives, that day would mark the true ex-pression of
our fraternal feeling from them. These very thoughts
of Deedayalji are our strength. This will be the roadmap
for the BJP’s future.
I feel proud in telling you that during the four
years power in Maharashtra , the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance
government created a large number of developmenatal
and public welfare works. Rural Maharashtra got roads;
sincere efforts were made to resolve its water and
power problems. Mumbai got 55 flyover bridges to ease
up the pressure of the trafiic in the metropolis.
It is the alliance government which has also constructed
the flyover bridge at Bandra that brings you to this
Rajat Jayanti venue. The construction of the Bandra-Worli
sealink was given a green signal during our time.
The Mumbai-Pune Expressway is another example. Such
works have made the state a progressive leader. Our
government undertook various other developmental works
to change the face of Maharashtra and make it an advanced
state. Today, the Congress_NCP alliance is in power
in Maharashtra. This government has broken all its
pre-election promises and has been doing rave injustice
to the people. The Congress-NCP government in the
state cannot supply neither power nor water or do
justice to the farmers in the state. Due to the policies
adopted by the congress government, hundred of farmers
have committed suicides and the condition is worsening.
During the Congress rule, nearly 1200 farmers have
committed suicides. We took along the farmers in the
state and agitated against the government. We brought
together nearly 500,000 farmers to protest against
the government during the recent winter session of
the legislature at Nagpur, This has been the largest
mocha ever taken out in the history of the state.
It was due to the persistent pressure by the BJP that
the government has taken the farmers’ suicides
seriously.
On this occasion, I would especially like to mention
two historical incidents. At this very place, 25 years
ago, the former Chief justice of India M.C.Chagla,
had said, “Who says the Congress has no alternative?
I see before me the alternative to the Congress and
in Atalji, I see a future Prime Minister of India.”
And 16 years later, Chagla’s words came true.
This event is the evidence of the BJP’s growing
prowess.
Atalji in his speech had said that “darkness
would go, the sun would rise and the lotus would bloom.”
Atalji’s hope has transformed into reality.
The lotus is blooming and the BJP is also progressing
by leaps and bounds. I am confident that under the
guidance and with his presence for the Rajat Jayanti
convention, we would build a prosperous and strong
India in this century.
Another important part of this convention in Maharashtra
is the massive public rally to be held on December
29, 2005 at 6 pm at Shivaji Park. Our respected leaders,
Shri Advaniji will be addressing the meeting. We are
confident that this mammoth BJP rally will pave the
way for creating a new history. I appeal to you and
all people of Mumbai to attend this rally.
Workers of Mumbai BJP have been toiling round the
clock for several days to make this convention a grand
success. Despite this, if you find any shortcomings,
please report them to us. We will spare no efforts
to carry out the improvements. Once again, I thank
all of you for listening to me.
Jai Hind !
